Ballarat's Best Wedding Photography Locations - Laura & Jarrod's Wedding Day

20 May 2016

Ballarat is the best city for a wide range of incredible wedding photography locations!  Within the city, there are so many opportunities all within a few blocks from one another.

Laura and Jarrod's wedding day was no exception. The boys kicked the day off at the light and airy Premier Apartments, based on Lyons street south. This old school building has been stylishly decorated and has some amazing rooms with balconies ideal for wedding preparations.

Laura and her bridesmaids prepared in their family home. Laura's pastel, rainbow toned bridesmaids dresses were a wonderful feature of the day.  When I went to meet Laura and Jarrod for the first time I spotted this amazing grungy structure near their home. This is where I photographed the ladies after their preparations.

Wedding ceremony Ballarat

The wedding ceremony was held in the Herring Room, in The George Hotel, one of Ballarat's well known buildings along Lydiard street.  The ladies arrived in style in a limosuine by Cassars Limosine Service.

The George Hotel offers some lovely, unique wedding photography opportunities.  It is also on the most fascinating street in Ballarat central.

Wandering the city streets we noticed that there were many posters called, 'The Festival of Love,'  perfectly fitting for the day.

After a short drive we went to one of my favourite out of town places in Buninyong.

The wedding day finally end up in the stunning 'party feel' wedding venue. The colourful, vibrant space at The Lounge (part of the George Hotel,) with it's intimate couches and wide dance floor was the perfect way to end a wedding.

I asked Laura a few questions and here is what she said about the wedding day.

How did you both meet?  We met through Jarrod's cousin who was living with me at the time and had come round to see his cousin. I found out later Jarrod had come round to check me out. Haha!

What was the best part about planning your wedding day?  Getting to try on all the different wedding dresses. Its nice to feel a bit like a princess once in your life. Getting pampered was a nice thing too.

What were your favourite moments on the wedding day? There are probably too many to count. It was amazing to stand in front of all our family and friends expressing how we felt for one another. Dancing up a storm with all our guests at the reception was a fun and great highlight.

What was your inspiration for your styling choices?  Simplicity was a keyword, we wanted to have a wedding that wasn't over the top and represented us. We liked the vintage and rustic stylings as they were different. Colours were more neutral, we could still add our own unique touch and have a lot of fun with it.

Do you have any tips for future wedding couples? Know what you want and don't let anyone else tell you or try and influence you on how your wedding day should be.
